Materials intended for use in the food industry, known as food contact materials, are subject to complex and demanding regulations and legislation (FDA, EC1935, etc.). Constant monitoring and control of materials and finished products is one of the GITIS Group’s core competencies for these strategic markets. It is important to ensure migration values through blend purity and the avoidance of (cross-)contamination during production.
Today, disruptions and risks in the supply chain have created new challenges. In some cases, FDA delivery certificates (so-called notifications) have expired, and polymer manufacturers are modifying the production of peroxide materials to avoid fluorine-containing surfactants (low molecular weight PFAS).
GITIS has therefore completely revised its portfolio in 2024. All materials will soon be tested, sampled, and converted. Our customers are already receiving prototypes for migration testing.
In the field of bisphenol-crosslinked FKMs, our FDA/EU1953 and USPVI-compliant VB070FQ2 is the best-in-class material. For enhanced chemical resistance, we offer two excellent materials for all steam and CIP/SIP applications, with generally high fluid resistance, including WFI: VB075SR3 (black, 70% fluorine content) and VW070SR3 (white, 70% fluorine content), also FDA/EU1935 and USPVI-compliant.
